From vineyard to cellar

The Bergmannhof is located in Unterrain, in the municipality of Eppan. It lies at an altitude of 270 metres, just above the valley floor of the River Etsch and below the Gantkofel massif.

The varieties of Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Vernatsch, Lagrein, Merlot and Cabernet franc are all grown on the so-called “Huberfeld” location on sandy, clayey, limestone gravel soils.

The “Huberfeld” is widely regarded as historically the most valuable winegrowing area in St. Pauls and its surrounding area.

Working in the vineyard

We take great care to treat nature in a respectful manner. We do as much work as possible by hand to guarantee steady growth of the vines and ensure harmony in the vineyard.

Harvesting

The grapes are picked by hand, selected and transported in small crates to the farm. We then try, in as authentic a way as possible, to turn our grapes into wine in our old cellars.

Aging the wine

The wines are mostly aged in wooden barrels. They spend a long time in contact with the yeast, whereas sulphites are kept to a minimum and all unnecessary fining or filtration are avoided.
